Date: February 20, 2022

Dear Blogpost,

Today marked a thrilling escapade into the heart of Tripura with my dear friends Palash, Abhijit, and Pritam. Our destination: Unakoti, a historic site nestled amidst the verdant landscapes of this enchanting state. The name itself, "Unakoti," meaning one less than a crore, hinted at the countless mysteries waiting to be unraveled within its ancient ruins.

As dawn broke, we embarked on our journey filled with anticipation and excitement. The winding roads led us through picturesque vistas, adorned with lush greenery and punctuated by quaint villages. The journey itself was an adventure, with laughter echoing through the car as we exchanged stories and reminisced about past adventures.

Upon reaching Unakoti, we were greeted by towering rock-cut figures and intricately carved sculptures dating back to the 7th to 9th centuries. Legend has it that these colossal carvings were created by a celestial sculptor, who fell short of completing one crore sculptures and thus left one less than a crore unfinished, hence the name Unakoti.

Our first stop was the mesmerizing waterfall nearby. The sound of cascading water beckoned us, and without hesitation, we made our way towards it. As we stood beneath its icy streams, the chilling cold water sent shivers down our spines, yet invigorated our spirits. It was an exhilarating experience, refreshing both body and soul amidst the ancient ruins.

After our refreshing dip, we ventured deeper into Unakoti, exploring its labyrinthine pathways adorned with myriad rock-cut figures of gods, goddesses, and mythical beings. Each sculpture seemed to whisper tales of bygone eras, invoking a sense of awe and wonder within us.

Palash, with his keen eye for detail, pointed out the intricate carvings depicting scenes from Hindu mythology, while Abhijit marveled at the sheer scale of the rock-cut figures. Pritam, ever the storyteller, regaled us with fascinating legends associated with Unakoti, adding a mystical aura to our exploration.

As the day drew to a close, we found ourselves reluctant to leave this enchanting place. Unakoti had captivated us with its timeless charm and rich historical legacy. It was a journey filled with laughter, camaraderie, and a deep appreciation for the wonders of our ancient past.

As I pen down these memories, I realize how fortunate I am to have shared this unforgettable experience with my dear friends. Our visit to Unakoti will forever remain etched in our hearts, a testament to the enduring bond of friendship and the enduring allure of exploration.

Until our next adventure,

Saikat
